Introduction

Tweetbacks

Tweetbacks were “introduced” by Rachel Cunliffe:

Bloggers will start to add “Tweetbacks” to their blog posts. The simplest version will show the number of people who have tweeted this post (including all reverse engineered tinyurls). Tweetbacks are not yet available.

Options will include:

  • Showing what tweeters are saying about the post
  • Replies to those tweets from others
  • Showing who is tweeting the post
  • Showing the tweeters’ avatars
  • Ordering tweeters by Twitter influence
  • Mixing tweets in with comments, rather than displaying them separately

This plugin

This plugin creates much of the functionality above. The non-striked parts are already implemented. Please have a look at the installation page to get some more help on the plugin, its not hard to use at all.

A widget with the “Tweetstats” mentioned in the same posting is already in the work, as you can see on this sidebar. :)

There is are two similar plugins, a Javascript-based by Dan Zarella and another one by Joost de Valk. All three of them are compared (in german, sorry) here. If you don’t like our plugin, feel free to give those a try. And, of course, tell us why you didn’t like ours, we are still improving it. :)

Yes, an identi.ca and/or friendfeed plugin is no big deal and will appear at some point later. Lets just first have the tweetback plugin in a nice and comfy shape. :)

    Steffen: Die Ursache ist in deinem Fall mit Sicherheit veraltetes PHP. Ohne Versionshinweise (Hint: Einfach den Debug-Output im Admininterface copypasten) kann ich dir da genau gar nicht helfen. Abgesehen davon:

    Wie immer bei nur für WordPress gedachten plug-ins: Es wäre schön, wenn es eine generische PHP-Version geben würde, so dass auch die Benutzer anderer CMS den PHP-Code einbinden könnten. Danke.

    hab jetzt via .htaccess die php version upgedated. fehlermeldung kommt jetzt keine mehr… aber sehe auch noch keine tweetbacks unter meinen posts. liegt aber vielleicht auch gerade daran das twitter solche hänger hat…

    Frage: könnte man evtl. ne Option einbauen, die es erlaubt, Tweetbacks von bestimmten Accounts zu blocken? Damit würde man z.B. lästige Tweetbacks von sich selbst vermeiden, die das Resultat von Plugins wie TweetThis sind.

    Nützlich würde ich finden, wenn ich bestimmte Twitterer ausschliessen könnte, denn meine neuen Posts werden automatisch auf einem Twitterstream gepostet und erscheinen, dann auch in den Kommentaren, obwohl sie überhaupt keine Relevanz haben…
    Sonst. Danke für das Plugin!
